Silver is brilliant white metal which is applied in the jewellery industry and is characterized by corrosion resistance to oxygen in the air at room temperature, but due to the presence of hydrogen sulphide in the air the metal with time is covered with dark silver sulphide coating. Silver is characterized by suitability for polishing and has high reflectivity. In order to increase hardness and strength, silver is alloyed. Pure silver is rarely used for making silver jewellery. In the manufacture of jewellery and art products silver alloys are used. Silver is also used in the chemical industry as a catalyst, and in household use for kitchen utensils (cutlery and other utensils). Silver is applied for coating mirrors and inner vessels of thermos flasks. A lot of silver is also consumed by manufacturing portable power sources.
Performance of silver electrolyte-plasma treatment and polishing:
Recommended processing time for silver polishing — 180 sec.
Grinding and deburring speed — 40 sec.
Average time to reduce the roughness value by 1 class — 90 sec.
Количество циклов полировки до смены электролита — 30.
